Ballet Jörgen's Production of Swan Lake.

I had a chance to photograph the dress rehearsal of Ballet Jörgen Canada's Swan Lake this past week.

This show opens their 25th season as a Ballet company. Here is more about their show from their web site:

"Ballet Jörgen Canada opens the Flato Markham Theatre’s 2012-13 Diamond Series Season with a world premiere performance of the most revered classical ballet, Swan Lake. The centerpiece of the Toronto-based company’s silver anniversary season, this Canadian re-telling of the timeless classic was created by award-winning choreographer and the company’s founder, Bengt Jörgen. Set to the evocative Tchaikovsky score, Jörgen’s newest masterpiece takes place in the 18th century seascape at Fortress Louisbourg, Nova Scotia. A company of 25 of the best ballet dancers in North America bring the tragic tale of faithful love to life through vibrant contemporary choreography. They are joined by the Mariinsky Ballet Company’s Grigory Popov who will dance the lead role. Grigory, widely known for his electric vigor and his ability to hold soaring jumps, is a graduate of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet and an international winner of the Vaganova-Prix International Competition."

While the story of Swan Lake is well known, there have been many different endings that are performed by the Ballet Companies - I am not going to spoil the ending of this version for you. You will just have to go and see it. Tonight's show (Friday) is sold out but there are still tickets for the Sat. September 29 shows (2 PM & 8 PM). You can get tickets details here at the Flato Markham Theatre.

Thank you to Ballet Jörgen Canada for inviting me to their dress rehearsal.
