Pouring concrete on a sunny Sat.
Condos Condos Condos everywhere - Toronto has become the capital of the condos. Every parking lot is being converted into a condo. This past Sat. was the second fountain pour of the U condominium project on Bay Street. Two towers 45 and 55 stories high with town homes on the ground level takes the place of land formerly owned by St. Michael's College of University of Toronto.
Two lanes of traffic was closed all day on Bay street to fit the pumping trucks and endless parade of Concrete trunks feeding them.
I saw a total of 5 pumping trucks pouring wet cement down into the huge 5 story pit.
One of the pump operators.
I missed the first pouring on the west tower - this Sat's event was about the east tower.
I remember when this project started to sell in 2008 - it has taken 4 years for the foundations to be poured. Projected completion date 2014 - but don't quote me on that - we all know how builders always keep their promises ;-)
