The search for the Holy Grail - Part III
Its been awhile since I posted anything on this blog as my photographic adventures has taken me in a new direction this past 12 months. So let’s try to restart this little blog.
Let’s start by going revisiting an old topic. The Search for the Holy Grail Part III. The search for a smaller, faster and cheaper camera than my DSLRs. To see Parts I & Part II – please use the links.
The current search has stopped at the Fuji X system. From Part 2 - the search stopped at the X-T1 and at initial use - I was happy with it but as I used it long term - I wasn't too happy with the AF-C mode or the EVF in high speed shooting modes and those D-pad buttons just drove me crazy and I just used it less and less.
So when the new X-Pro2 was released and Fujifilm Canada was kind enough to loan me their flagship X camera, I was going to really use it for longer than an hour before fully committing to it. So I took it out with me on some freelance assignments.
Assignment 1:
Toronto ComiCon
Some outdoor photography with the X-Pro2 and the 18-55mm kit lens
Makenzie Smith "Bubbles" as MJ & Else Laurenne as Venom
Hannah & Amy
Indoor natural light with the X-Pro2 and the 18-55mm kit lens
On camera manual flash shots
Off-camera flash shots
I had carried the DSLR as a backup in case I had any issues with the X-Pro2 but the big and heavy DSLR stayed in the bag all day long. I was very impressed with image quality coming out of the new 24MP sensor. Focus wasn't an issue on this assignment - fairly bright settings - not too much of a challenge for the X-Pro2.
For this assignment - the X-Pro2 worked great - you can judge the images for yourselves.
PS: If you know who any of these cos-players are please drop me a note and I will credit them for the images.
